Hole #1
- Par: 5
- Men's Handicap: 3
- Ladies' Handicap: 1
Hole Description
The first hole is a challenging dogleg right with water on the inside of the dogleg from start to finish. This par 5 is a true three-shot hole for just about everyone. Most players favor the left side of this hole even though it makes the second and third shots a little longer. A well placed second shot just short of the fairway bunkers on the right will leave the player with a third shot over a greenside bunker protecting the front of the green. This green is sloped from back to front with any shots left of the green funneling down into a collection area. Par is a good score on this starting hole!
Hole #2
- Par: 3
- Men's Handicap: 17
- Ladies' Handicap: 17
Hole Description
The second hole is a straightaway par 3 with a greenside bunker that protects the front right portion of the green. Good club selection is a must when attacking a back pin location since it is on a tier. There is a collection area short and left of the green that will leave an opportunity to get up and down if the green is missed.
Hole #3
- Par: 4
- Men's Handicap: 13
- Ladies' Handicap: 11
Hole Description
The third hole is a straightaway par 4. There is plenty of room to hit your driver on this hole, but then an accurate second shot is needed to an elevated green with a false front. Anything short and right of the green will funnel down into a collection area well below the green level. If you find this collection area, you will have many options from putting, pitching or playing a bump and run. The green slopes from back to front, so anything long will leave you with a rather quick putt coming down the slope.
Hole #4
- Par: 4
- Men's Handicap: 11
- Ladies' Handicap: 9
Hole Description
The fourth hole is an average length par 4. This hole demands that you hit the fairway with your tee shot at all costs. The green is protected by a bunker short left and is well mounded right of the green. A back left pin location will require an above average shot in order to hold the green. Any shot on the right side of the green will give you the best opportunity to make par.
Hole #5
- Par: 4
- Men's Handicap: 7
- Ladies' Handicap: 7
Hole Description
The fifth hole is a straightaway par 4 with water down the right side almost the entire hole. Any tee shot towards the right fairway bunker will kick right and could end up in the water. The best approach would be to aim at the fairway bunker on the left, which will leave you with a straight forward shot. This is a small green with a false front. Your approach shot should be played to the middle of the green regardless of the pin location.
Hole #6
- Par: 5
- Men's Handicap: 5
- Ladies' Handicap: 3
Hole Description
The sixth hole is a risk and reward, dogleg left, par 5. Long hitters can definitely reach this hole in two shots, but it will require two, long and accurate shots. In order to make this hole shorter, one must favor the left side of the hole, which will bring the water into play. An accurate shot into this green is required since it is a long and narrow green. Anything from an eagle to a big number is possible here.
Hole #7
- Par: 4
- Men's Handicap: 9
- Ladies' Handicap: 13
Hole Description
The seventh hole is a long dogleg left, par 4. This is the start of three very difficult holes to finish the front nine. A well placed tee shot avoiding the only bunker on the hole is required to have a realistic chance at par. Any tee shot right of center will leave you with a longer second shot to a large green. Anything short of the green will leave you with an opportunity to get up and down. Par is a good score on this hole.
Hole #8
- Par: 3
- Men's Handicap: 15
- Ladies' Handicap: 15
Hole Description
The eighth hole is the longest and most challenging par 3 on the course. The green is protected by bunkers left of the green and mounds right of the green. The green is slightly elevated so any balls landing short usually don’t reach the green. The best miss is short, taking the bunkers and mounds out of play. Left of the green will provide you with a very difficult up and down. Par is a good score on this long par 3.
Hole #9
- Par: 4
- Men's Handicap: 1
- Ladies' Handicap: 5
Hole Description
The ninth hole is a challenging dogleg right, par 4 with water on the inside of the dogleg from start to finish. The tee shot must avoid the water and bunkers on the right side of this hole in order to set up a good approach shot or layup. Left center of the fairway is safe, but will make the hole much longer and may force a layup on the most difficult hole on the course. The green is well guarded by bunkers short right, left and back left. Any long shots should be played to the front or middle of this green since this is a tough green to hold. Laying up short left of the green may be your best play unless you have a short iron into this green. Finishing with a par on the ninth hole is a great score.
Hole #10
- Par: 4
- Men's Handicap: 8
- Ladies' Handicap: 16
Hole Description
The 10th is a long straightaway, par 4. The tee shot must navigate bunkers on the left and right side of the fairway. Proper club selection for the approach shot is critical. Shots left short or right will funnel into a collection of mounds, which makes for a difficult up and down. Par is a good score for this length of hole.
Hole #11
- Par: 5
- Men's Handicap: 4
- Ladies' Handicap: 6
Hole Description
The 11th hole is a dogleg left, risk and reward, par 5 with water on the inside. An aggressive tee shot over a collection of bunkers will allow the longer players a chance to reach this par 5 in two shots. The approach shot to the green is wide open with a large putting surface. This is a good hole for a chance at a birdie.
Hole #12
- Par: 4
- Men's Handicap: 16
- Ladies' Handicap: 4
Hole Description
The 12th hole is a short and narrow par 4. This hole is guarded by a bunker on the left and water running down the entire right side. An aggressive drive with the driver will leave you a short approach shot with a bunker on the left and a very difficult two-tiered green. A left pin position requires an above average shot. Par is a good score on this hole.
Hole #13
- Par: 3
- Men's Handicap: 18
- Ladies' Handicap: 18
Hole Description
The 13th hole is a midrange par 3, and is well guarded by a bunker on the right and a long, narrow green. Hitting to the center of this green and playing for par is a smart play. Missing the green short or left offers the player a good chance to get up and down for par.
Hole #14
- Par: 4
- Men's Handicap: 6
- Ladies' Handicap: 12
Hole Description
The 14th hole is a slight dogleg right, guarded by water on the inside from start to finish. The tee shot should be played left center of the fairway, which gives the best approach shot to a slightly elevated green. The green is protected on the right side by bunkers and a back right pin position makes this hole extremely difficult. Par is a good score.
Hole #15
- Par: 5
- Men's Handicap: 14
- Ladies' Handicap: 2
Hole Description
The 15th hole is a reachable par 5 in two shots for the long hitters. The tee shot may be played down the right center of the fairway and catch the down slope for more distance. A challenging approach shot will be required, as the green is guarded in the front by bunkers and the putting surface is one of the smallest on the golf course. If the approach is long or left, a collection of mounds will make an up and down difficult. This is a good birdie hole.
Hole #16
- Par: 4
- Men's Handicap: 2
- Ladies' Handicap: 8
Hole Description
The 16th hole is a dogleg left, par 4 with water down the left side. An aggressive tee shot challenging the water and the bunker on the left will give you a much shorter approach shot. Hit your drive out to the right and this hole is extremely long. A large green is favorable to the long second shot, which allows a player to make par on a lengthy par 4.
Hole #17
- Par: 3
- Men's Handicap: 10
- Ladies' Handicap: 10
Hole Description
This is the signature hole at Woodfield Country Club ®. The 17th hole is a par 3 surrounded by water. The tee shot requires a carry over water to a midsized green. Taking one more club is smart on this hole. However, two bunkers catch the balls that go long and now the player is faced with an extremely difficult bunker shot. This is a beautiful, but intimidating hole for many players. Anything from a birdie to a double bogey is fairly common.
Hole #18
- Par: 4
- Men's Handicap: 12
- Ladies' Handicap: 14
Hole Description
The 18th hole is a dogleg right with water down the right side. An aggressive tee shot over the corner of the water allows the player to have a shorter approach shot. Any drive straight or left will set up a long and challenging shot to the green. The green is narrow and long with bunkers on the left and a water feature on the right. Your approach shot should be played to the center of the green, regardless of pin location. The best opportunity to get up and down is from the front of the green.
